Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest (home to Bing Crosby, Quincy Jones, and Jimi Hendrix), Dustin grew up listening to his mother sing and his father play the guitar. He began taking guitar lessons from his Dad at the age of 9. In high school, Dustin toured the country with a Christian ministry group and served his local church as a worship team leader.
Dustin studied both jazz and classical music at Pacific Lutheran University. By the age of 21, Dustin was a private instructor on the PLU student-staff list and had amassed over 40 students. In 2002, Dustin was selected as a national finalist in Guitar Center’s “Guitarmageddon” competition for the best up-and-coming guitarist, signified with a performance at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. This notoriety helped launch his career as a professional musician.
Dustin also brings an impressive resume of live and/or studio experience with national artists including Kelly Clarkson, Allen Stone, Andy Grammer, Ernie Halter, Kirk Franklin, Fitz and the Tantrums, Tony Lucca, Crystal Aikin, Jaime Jamgochian, Kid Sensation, Xola, The Seattle Seahawks, and many more… Dustin’s band (The BGP) was featured on America’s Got Talent (Season 6) on NBC primetime with roughly 22 million viewers. For over a decade, Dustin was also heavily involved with music and production at two of the Northwest's largest churches. Dustin is the Worship Pastor at The Trinity Church in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Prior to moving his family to Phoenix, Dustin spent over 15 years building a private lessons school where he taught about a dozen different musical instruments to students of all ages and skill levels. As the founder and instructor, he spent his days interacting with students and building lesson plans to help facilitate and encourage the musical growth of his students. He continues to teach students doing online video lessons!! He and his wife Trina live in Phoenix with their three children.
